Details

We assist the Tohoku Disaster volunteer efforts. Our efforts include ensuring a place to stay as well as securing a means of transportation. As far as volunteer activities, you can choose anything from general cleanup all the way to more labor-intensive work. You can also enjoy your time with the local people, as well as at the hot springs. Your length of stay and how you spend your time are yours to determine.

  • Our coordinator will pick you up from the volunteer center on the first day and take you to the lodge for orientation on activities that will begin the following day.
  • In the morning, you will be taken back to the volunteer center. Each morning you will select an activity or task.
  • Everyone will split off into groups based on their activities. There will be about 5-6 hours of break time each day.
  • After activities for the day conclude, we will return to the lodge. Free time begins after 5pm.

You are responsible for your own initial transportation to the Wataricho volunteer center.
For example, here are directions from Tokyo Station:

Kosuke Matsushima

After returning to his hometown after the disaster, Kosuke started this volunteer project to assist with the continuing relief efforts and to provide those eager to help with the means to create tangible results.
