Ever since the Edo period for over 400 years, “buyo”, a type of traditional dance in Japan, has existed thanks to people who can still dance this delicacy and successfully pass it on. To dance “buyo”, the dancers stamp their feet and make huge hand/body gestures – twisting and turning – to music that can be probably classified as traditional pop music.

• Learn how to dance “buyo” directly from an experienced stage actress who is a successor of this tradition.
• Learn how to dance a popular act called “Sakura Sakura”.
You’ll learn from an experienced actress, so you’ll quickly and smoothly learn to dance right on the spot. So when you visit Japan, come down and experience Japan’s culture to the fullest by learning how to dance “buyo”.
Basic Schedule:
1) Meet at the giant Asakusa Kaminari-mon paper lantern
2) Take a 3min walk to the “buyo” teacher’s classroom
