Cook a Beautiful Japanese Meal (For Beginners)

Details

Since there are four distinct seasons in Japan, vegetables and fish that are in season change quite rapidly. There is traditional processed food that can be obtained as well, though, without regard of season/level of harvest such as dry food, tofu, and pickled vegetables. Out of these seasonally fresh and delicious ingredients, together we will prepare a traditional Japanese-style menu consisting of rice, soup, two side dishes, and a main dish.

We will also express the feeling of celebration by carefully choosing the colors of the food and, at times, changing up the ways in which we cut the vegetables.

In this activity you will…

• Learn how to make 1~2 different Japanese dishes.
• Eat traditional Japanese food that will be prepared in advance (rice, soup, two side dishes, and a main dish)

All food will be served in handmade pottery as well.

When you visit Japan, we recommend that you learn how to cook and enjoy Japanese food!

* We can cook vegetarian as well. Also, for people with experience in cooking, we can give an advanced lesson on request.

As a culinary specialist and as a nutritionist I cook at home and host “Tukurukoto wo Tanoshimu” (Having fun making) class dressmaking and kimono-making. I’ve gone to many places as well as a “cook who makes business trips”. While being a home tutor for high schoolers for 11 years, I also went to Korea to study their food. After that, I started work at a kitchen at a hospital attached to Tokyo Medical and Dental University that makes over 600 meals a day. After leaving that post, I have done jobs such as catering, Japanese cooking lessons for foreigners in Japan, and work as a private cook.
